Our dance center vows to give each student the best quality dance education offering a caring, friendly, family environment for the youngest recreational student to the serious young adult. It is our policy to nurture each student and encourage the love of dance. The art of dance teaches discipline of the body and mind, provides healthy exercise and promotes a knowledge and appreciation of music.

Phyllis R. Guy – “Miss” Phyllis is the founder and owner of Phyllis Guy Dance Center which opened in 1976. The Dance Center has been successfully teaching the art of dance to hundreds of students. For over 40 years Phyllis has progressively been training in the art of Dance including 35 years of teaching Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Pointe, Hip Hop, Acro, Musical Theatre, Ballet Productions, Drama, etc. Phyllis is a member of several National and Chapter organizations including Dance Masters of America, (where she is National 1st Vice President), Dance Educators of America, and Dixie Dance Masters (immediate Past-President). Phyllis has attended DMA’s Teachers Training School in Buffalo, NY for the past 3 years, learning the most up-to-date choreography and modern methods of teaching the art of Dance. She has judged local, regional, and national dance competitions throughout the United States. Teaching dance has always been a passion, especially seeing the passion transferred to students and watching them grow into beautiful, talented dancers. Motivating Young People, Enhancing Lives, Building Character.


Julie G. Sharp – Julie began dance at the age of 2 and hasn’t stopped yet. In 1996, Julie proudly achieved her Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from LSU School of Dentistry, following she achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from LSU Baton Rouge. Julie continues to teach dance, while practicing dental hygiene. She has taught dance for 14 years at PGDC. She is currently associate director at PGDC and is proud to be a student and assistant to her mother, PGDC owner, Phyllis Guy. She has studied throughout the United States including New York City and Los Angeles. She is very proud of her numerous groups and soloists receiving highest honors at the national level. Her passion is Tap, but she enjoys teaching those of all ages in the subject of ballet, tap and jazz. She is also a member of Dance Masters of America and Dixie Dance Masters.
